The Team
TABLETOP is the debut film from a diverse UK-based creative team that includes women and members of the LGBT+ community.
JAN VRHOVNIK | CINEMATOGRAPHER
The recipient of the 2023 Young Directors Award in Cannes, Jan is a Slovenian-born, London-based multi award-winning cinematographer and filmmaker known for timeless and sincere work.
Jan’s approach brings sensibility and meaning to everyday moments, illuminating what is often overlooked. His films frequently unfold in naturalistic settings, bearing the hallmark of authenticity, light humour, and the beauty of life. For him, the quintessential aspect of filmmaking lies in the "aftertaste" it leaves in the hearts and minds of the audience, and he is committed to creating positive and impactful work through his distinctive style.
ADAM BAILEY | CO-DIRECTOR
A British-Canadian filmmaker and creative director. His brand films and commercials have won multiple Cannes Lions, D&ADs, and an esteemed spot on TIFF's list of The Most Essential Work in Canadian Cinema History.
In 2021 Adam was accepted to the AFI Conservatory, where he made three short films and wrote the thriller screenplay VAINGLORIOUS, which was a finalist for the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship. In 2024, he was invited to Switzerland’s Plume & Pellicule screenwriting lab to work under the guidance of Stephen Frears and Christopher Hampton.
Originally from the Canadian prairies, Adam now lives in London with his wife and writing partner Lucy Mastrullo, where they spend most of their time wandering with their silly old dog, Scout.
JASON BAILEY | CO-DIRECTOR
A British photographer and motion director, Jason’s specialized approach blends highly technical lighting, set design craft, and vibrant environments to create expressive visual narratives. His work is internationally acclaimed, winning 1st Prize at the 2024 International Photography Awards and being named Commercial Photographer of the Year by the British Photography Awards. In 2016, Jason founded JBS, a full-service photography and motion production studio.
TABLETOP represents his first step toward creating cinematic work that balances technical precision with honest human truths – work that, in his words, "isn't just craft precision, but has soul."
Jason is based in Hackney and one of the many perks of his job has been the opportunity to collaborate professionally with his husband and co-dog-parent Joe McCanta.
LUCY MASTRULLO | CO-WRITER
An Italian-Canadian writer and filmmaker. In 2021 Lucy was accepted to the prestigious MFA program at the American Film Institute Conservatory specializing in screenwriting. The film went on to to receive acclaim on the 2024 festival circuit, winning multiple awards including Best Narrative Short and Best Student Film.

JOE McCANTA | PRODUCER
Joe McCanta is an artist and producer whose passion for storytelling has carried him from solo piano performances at smokey jazz venues to leading global brand teams at some of the world’s most prestigious events.
After studying music under seventeen-time Grammy nominee Fred Hersch at the New England Conservatory of Music, Joe's creative journey led him to co-found Semi-Precious Weapons (who would go on to open for Lady Gaga) and to produce Helen Stratford’s one-woman show in New York City.
A passion for fine wine and innovative storytelling eventually led him to his current role as the Global Ambassador for GREY GOOSE, where he designs and produces signature experiences for the Oscars, Cannes, BAFTAs, and TIFF.
